Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian investment holding Danantara is pursuing a strategic partnership with Russia to develop a clean energy shipyard facility in Indonesia.The cooperation will involve several Indonesian state-owned maritime enterprises, including PT PAL Indonesia and other state-owned companies in the shipbuilding sector, Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani said at the Taleon Hotel’s lobby in St. Petersburg, Russia, on Friday.
He emphasized that the partnership will be conducted jointly, not individually, and it will involve four companies, including PT PAL.
The goal of the collaboration is not only to build environmentally friendly vessels but also revitalize the financial condition of Indonesia’s national maritime state-owned enterprises, which are currently considered financially unsound.

Roeslani expressed the hope that the collaboration would identify the most suitable partners and contribute to improving the health of state-owned maritime firms. In addition to the financial aspect, the project will place strong emphasis on technology transfer, particularly in the application of clean energy technologies.

The vessels developed under the partnership will utilize electric and solar power and will be equipped with ice-breaking capabilities -- a technology that has been widely adopted by Russia in both river and marine environments.
Roeslani described the initiative as one of Danantara’s priority projects, which will be accelerated in keeping with Indonesia’s growing commitment to strengthening its national maritime industry through green technology.
