Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Transmigration is pushing to build land connectivity across three priority transmigration areas in Central Sulawesi province under the plan to establish the Palu-Sigi-Poso-Parigi Moutong integrated economic zone.According to an official statement released here on Saturday, the key transmigration areas are Palolo in Sigi Regency, Tampolore in Poso Regency, and Bahari Tomini Raya in Parigi Moutong Regency.

Meanwhile, Palu city will be developed as a regional marketing hub and logistics center connecting the priority areas.

“We will develop these priority transmigration areas with the concept of an integrated transmigration economic corridor,” director general of economic development and transmigration community empowerment at the Transmigration Ministry, Velix Wanggai, said.

He added that the development concept is part of the ministry’s new strategy to accelerate the integrated and sustainable development of transmigration areas by enabling more effective flows of commodities, logistics, and labor.

The director general noted that the three priority areas have excellent export-oriented commodities, including durian, cocoa, coffee, and local varieties of cassava.

“Key commodities like durian and chocolate from Palolo, as well as the famous Palolo coffee and cassava, have high export potential. When connected within an economic corridor, their added value will increase, and community welfare will also improve,” Wanggai said.

Through multi-sector collaboration involving various ministries, local government, business actors, and local communities, the central government will ensure adequate road infrastructure, easy transportation access, and efficient logistics systems in the economic zone.

The Ministry of Transmigration expects the economic corridor concept to encourage the creation of new economic centers within transmigration areas, drive investment, and generate employment opportunities, and thereby promote equitable development.

The initiative aligns with the ambitions of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka to prioritize development in marginalized areas, increase economic equality, and transform the transmigration program as a catalyst for integrated regional development.
